A Caring Christian Family Where We Grow Together
Let Your Light Shine ~ Matthew 5:16

Article 29: Children’s education should develop each child’s personality, talents and abilities to the fullest. It should encourage children to respect others, human rights and their own and other cultures. It should also help them learn to live peacefully, protect the environment and respect other people.

Our Curriculum Policy details our intent behind our curriculum, how we implement it and our desired impact.

The curriculum at RCSAT, developed over a number of years, is firmly rooted in and stems directly from our Vision, Mission and Core Values:

Our Vision – ‘Let your Light shine’ Matthew v5:16

Our Mission – ‘A Caring Christian Family Where We Grow Together’

Our Core Values

We aim to create an enjoyable, inclusive, safe and nurturing environment that allows all children to develop spiritually, morally and socially – every child is a child of God, made to contribute to our world.

We aim to create an inspiring environment, which encourages enthusiasm for lifelong learning and establishes an expectation of high standards – knowing the way, showing the way and going the way.

We aim to encourage caring, sensitive and inclusive attitudes where individuals feel secure, valued and respected by others – like Jesus showed us through his teachings

We aim to provide a broad and connected curriculum which challenges and develops the potential of each child – as Jesus needed his disciples to support and guide, so we look to others with more knowledge

We aim to develop a positive relationship between home, school and our wider community-  as a family – as brothers and sisters.

The curriculum at Bunbury Aldersey is organised across different documents according to the subject, year group and content being planned and delivered. To aid understanding of how our curriculum is organised we have broken each of these documents down into the following areas:

  1. Whole school overview
  2. Year group overview
  3. Subject Progression documents

Each area is explained below. For further information about any aspect of the curriculum your child is learning, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or contact a member of the leadership team via the school office.

1. Whole School Overview

The whole school overview document details the National Curriculum objectives for each subject and is organised by year group and subject.

3. Subject Progression Documents

Our curriculum progression documents articulate the route of study within a particular subject within school.

Within each document are key skills which are taught throughout each year group of school, demonstrating how each subject has been carefully planned and constructed to be sequenced progressively year after year with pupils building on prior learning to move forwards. End points for each year group are also clearly defined, showing how children apply the knowledge, skills and understanding they are taught, against a clearly defined end point before moving on with their learning.

Our curriculum overviews articulate the route of study within a particular subject within school.

They detail the following information:

  1. The intent and implementation of the subject area within Bunbury Aldersey,
  2. How the subject links in with the Early Years Foundation Stage,
  3. Ways in which inclusion for all is implemented within the subject,
  4. Curriculum endpoints for each area of study within each year group,
  5. Mapped progression of skills relevant to the subject,
  6. Our approach to assessment within the subject.
