Year 5
One World
Welcome back to the final half term in year 5.
We have got lots of exciting things to look forward to this half term including our residential with Lost Earth Adventures and Schoolfest.
I have uploaded to our class page a kit list and the PowerPoint slides from the residential presentation/meeting. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Our Topic for the Summer Term is 'One World'.
In Summer A, we will take our inspiration from the book 'The Paper Bag Prince' by Colin Thompson, which is a beautifully illustrated book with a powerful message about sustainability and the impact even one person can have when they are determined.
In Summer B, we will be inspired by 'Radiant Child: The True Story of Young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat' by Javaka Stepstoe that introduces the powerful message that art doesn’t always have to be neat or clean – and definitely not inside the lines – to be beautiful.
The topic web (which can be downloaded below) provides an overview of what we will be learning across the curriculum.
This term, we will welcome back our associate teacher Ms Pack.
Mrs Cheers and Mrs Dale are our teaching assistants in Y5.
Our scheduled PE days are Tuesday with Mrs Smith and Wednesday with Mr Friel. Please come to school dressed in PE kit on these days. We will be outside whenever possible, so please ensure you are dressed for the weather!
You will find all of the documents you need for completing your homework in the tab at the top of this page.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Smith
Our Class Charter
As a rights respecting school, one of the first activities completed in September is our Class Charter. The children choose a number of articles which they feel must be met at school. It is then discussed how the adults (duty bearers) and the pupils (rights holders) in school ensure that these rights are met. Have a look at our class charter below.
